C'est vrai que Jean Souchaud atteint un âge raisonnable, puisqu'il meurt à la Saint-Sylvestre 1901, à l'âge de 80 ans.

L'ironie, toutefois, a été de publier l'article du Petit Parisien le 30 avril, c'est à dire 3 jours après le décès de Marie Querrioux, survenu deux semaines après son ultime anniversaire :
